With spectacular views of the Isle of Wight to the East and Bournemouth and Poole to the West, Milford on Sea is located within Christchurch Bay.  The beaches at Milford on Sea are mainly pebble and shingle with patches of sand at low tide.

Visitor's Guide to Milford

Hurst Road Beach

Hurst Road Beach is easily accessed from the village centre.  This is a perfect family friendly beach being sandwiched between two car parks, opposite a toilet block and Needles Eye Cafe complete with ice cream kiosk and children's play area.

* Easy Access to the water

* Pebble Beach (no sand)

Hordle Cliff Beach

Hordle Cliff Beach is located to the west of Milford on Sea village.  It is served by a large car park, food, drink and ice cream Kiosk (with WIFI) and toilet block.  Access to the beach is via steep steps down from the cliff top.  At low tide a sand bar is exposed forming a safe shallow lagoon to splash about in.

* Access to the beach is down approx 30 steps)

Please note the beaches at Milford on Sea do not have a life guard and can have very strong currents; from a gently shelving shingle bank the sea can very quicky become deep, please make sure you stay safe!

Hurst Castle Webcam

Hurst Castle now has it's own webcam and is a fantatic way to check out the weather and sea conditions before you plan your visit!  The camera operates from Dawn to Dusk 7 days a week and updates its images every 20 minutes.  Click below to view the camera image.

At low tide a sand bar is exposed giving Milford on Sea a temporary sandy beach and shallow lagoon.


At times the tides around Milford on Sea can be very strong so it's worth noting the times of high and low tides.  See below for daily information and click the link for a more detailed timetable.  


Please note these tide times are for Hurst Point and may vary slightly for the Milford on Sea beaches.
