Visitor's Guide to Milford
Crab fishing from Sturt Pond Bridge (at the start of Hurst Spit) is a fantastic free family activity. Crab lines and equipment can be bought from the newsagents in the village or from the ice cream van by the crabbing bridge. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the beach nearby or get a New Forest Ice Cream from the ice cream van (usually there in the summer months!).
Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
Geocaching is great fun for anyone, from adventurous families to curious couples and everyone in between. It makes you feel a bit like an adventurer and at the same time you get to see some great sites and places around Milford that you might not normally have seen.

The play area next to the Needles Eye Cafe on the promenade is the perfect place for the children to let off some steam! It has been recently resurfaced and provides a safe place for children to play. You can sit and enjoy the sea views while the children are busy!
Enjoy a BBQ with family and friends on the beach. For just the cost of a few sausages, buns and a cheap disposible BBQ (all usually available from the village shops, especially in the summer) you can enjoy sea views while you dine!
If you stay into the evening then you may be lucky enough to catch one of the amazing sun sets as the sun goes down towards the sea!
Perfect if you have a budding nature detective in your family. The bird hide overlooks Sturt Pond and can be acessed along the side of Marine House (where the Raft Rocks is) at the end of Milford beach and the start of Hurst Spit.
