Visitor's Guide to Milford
Bordered on one side by the New Forest and the other side by Christchurch Harbour, Milford on Sea is one of the last remaining seaside villages in Hampshire. Perched on the cliff-tops with stunning sea views, Milford on Sea is a natural beauty spot enjoyed by many and at all times of year.
Despite being a small village, Milford on Sea has a surprisingly wide range of fantastic shops, restaurants and pubs and things to do in all weather. There are loads of great places to stay, including hotels and B&B's, camping and caravan sites, self catered cottages and holiday parks.
Both visitors and residents alike love to wander through the village, down to the seaside and walk along the cliff-top path, down Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle or along towards Barton on Sea, followed by a coffee or something to eat in one of the many cosy cafes and pubs.
Milford on Sea itself is very small and offers numerous excellent B&B's but very few hotels. If you're looking for hotel accommodation then the surrounding areas (usually within a very short drive or walk from Milford) offer a huge variety of stays, from budget to super luxury. Check out some of our favourites below.
Having recently undergone a full refurbishment, The Beach House is a popular place to stay, with luxurious, well-appointed rooms, some with stunning views across Christchurch Harbour to the Isle of Wight.
Owned by Dorset brewery Hall & Woodhouse, The Beach House is also a thriving pub/restaurant offering tradtional British pub fare in a cosy and friendly environment.
Perched proudly on the cliff edge at Barton on Sea, The Cliff House Hotel is another very popular option for visitors to the area.
The hotel has seven well-appointed ensuite bedrooms and a restaurant which is very popular with both guests and locals.
A very short drive or walk from the centre of MIlford on Sea and a 10 minute drive from Lymington, South Lawn Hotel is another popular option for visitors who don't mind being slightly further from the sea.
The hotel has 24 ensuite bedrooms, a popular bar and restaurant area and five acres of tranquil gardens for guests to enjoy.
